EP 57 – Is IVF a miss for the Trump Administration?
We knew we weren’t going to agree with everything Trump did in office. I think some of us are really surprised that he’s done so much while being faithful to the Christian worldview that he does not claim a hold do. As we’ll discuss on this episode, we’re grateful for a President that seems to line up with the Christian worldview so frequently. At the same time our goal is to be as Nathan was to David, and help our leaders see when they are doing wrong. So, what are we talking about? Trumps announcement of an Executive Order that would help more American couples engage in the controversial infertility treatment called, invitro fertilization or IVF.
In this episode, we discuss sharing truth in love. It’s not the sin of flattery to encourage someone that they are doing well. And we should first point out to President Trump it’s good that he recognizes we need more babies. If President Trump would come on the show I would ask, where do you think the baby rate should be? One of the charts we show on this episode points out a steep decline since 2007. this chart shows that in 2007 births per 1000 women were about 68. That’s .068 per woman aged between 15 and 44. On a chart it looks really bad that in 2020 we went down to 55.5 per 1000 or .0555 per woman. But if you look at a bigger chart going back to 1800 there’s a much bigger problem that we won’t tackle on this episode, but we’d love to hear from those of you who actually read the show notes.
So, while it’s good that Trump is addressing a birth rate problem, his solution is what we’ll investigate on this episode. We’ll discuss why it’s a problem and I think most interestingly discuss why so many people are in favor of it.
