How did Clement of Rome, Ignatius of Antioch, and Polycarp of Smyrna turn God and His salvation into today's "Christianity"? The earliest recorded use of "Catholic Church" appears in the writings of Ignatius of Antioch (c. 107 AD): "Wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church." (Letter to the Smyrnaeans, 8:2) Interesting that they would call it "universal" after the 2nd coming of Christ in 70AD when God reconciled all back to Himself and in HIM was the unification, not in a church organisation on earth. The antiChrist spirit of back then, continues on in organised religion.. Polycarp is regarded as one of three chief Apostolic Fathers, along with Clement of Rome and Ignatius of Antioch who made religious cults out of God and His salvation, starting while Jesus was still walking the earth, before his 2nd coming.
