James Uthmeier: "Today, under my direction, the Florida Office of the Attorney General, along with America First Legal, is filing a class action lawsuit against the retail giant Target for misleading shareholders and promoting a harmful leftist agenda at the expense of shareholder returns.

While Target told its investors they would keep the company out of controversy to protect the stock price, the retailer carried out a marketing campaign targeting children and sexualizing them.

You will remember that Target promoted rainbow sports bras for boys, children's swimsuits with transgender features, and books for kids that encouraged them to question their biological reality.

This radical campaign predictably caused Target’s stock price to drop, wiping out $10 billion in market value in just 10 days. And those losses put the pension funds of Florida’s teachers and first responders at risk.

Our public servants should not suffer diminished retirement security because companies focus on leftist virtue signaling instead of shareholder returns.

On a personal level, I am a father of three young children. No company should be celebrating and marketing the sexualization of our children. This is a fight worth having. And we will fight to hold Target financially accountable for these wrongful practices and force them and other corporate giants to get back to the business of doing business.

We are not afraid of a fight in Florida, and you can bet that we will not back down to corporate bullies who are willing to sacrifice returns to indoctrinate children."
