HANDS OFF: The Rehab Act of '73, & AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT

Well that is great to know.
Let’s pray that is a for certain.

It been a true concern especially since we keep hearing about cuts for Medicaid.

Also it is jarring hearing news reports about how 17 states that happen to be Republican (thankfully Ohio is not on the list) want to attempt to remove section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. Many in our community argue that with the removal of this section the ADA would not be as strong since it is this section of the Rehabilitation Act Act of ‘73 which contains the foundation of the ADA.
I think it’s something to do with how the Biden Administration updated the section by adding body dysmorphia as a disability and I’m assuming the problem is how it all links to the transgendered and instead of suing for the removal of that updated part they were gunning for the entire thing.

Thankfully I’ve heard a few of the 17 AG’s have stalled and maybe changed course but it’s just the climate today that makes me so uncomfortable.

I wouldn’t worry about the possibility of my rights being taken away or my care be taken away until now. I have enough to focus on to then wonder if the floor beneath me is about to give way. It was not that long ago people with disabilities were kept in institutions. And if ppl on Medicaid are burdens to society well…God forbid.

Anyway… here’s a link from a leading disability advocacy group in the US speaking on the case and implications.

I thank you for checking with your friend and for being in the fight with me if things go sideways.
