The Amazon Rainforest is the largest and most biodiverse tropical rainforest on Earth, spanning approximately 5.5 million square kilometers across Brazil, Peru, Colombia, and six other South American countries. It is home to around 10% of the world’s known species, including jaguars, sloths, toucans, and thousands of plant varieties. The Amazon River, one of the longest rivers globally, flows through the forest, supporting a vast network of waterways. This dense jungle plays a vital role in regulating the Earth's climate by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen. However, deforestation, illegal mining, and climate change threaten its delicate ecosystem, endangering both wildlife and indigenous communities that depend on it.
