Chera Dynasty

The Chera dynasty was one of the major ancient Tamil dynasties of South India, ruling over present-day Kerala and parts of Tamil Nadu. They were known for their trade with Rome and China and their contributions to Tamil literature. The Cheras had prominent rulers like Senguttuvan, who is famous for the Silappadikaram epic. Their kingdom thrived between the 3rd century BCE and the 12th century CE before being succeeded by later regional powers.
