Dune: Awakening, an open-world survival MMO developed by Funcom, is set to launch on May 20, 2025, for PC, with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions to follow. Players can now access the character creation and benchmark mode on Steam, allowing them to design their avatars and test game performance ahead of release. Early participants will receive an exclusive in-game Frameblade knife skin, and pre-orders offer additional bonuses like the Terrarium of Muad’Dib. Set on the desert planet Arrakis, the game presents an alternate timeline where Paul Atreides was never born, leading to a power struggle between House Atreides and House Harkonnen. Players begin as prisoners sent to uncover the mystery of the Fremen's disappearance, navigating a dynamic world reshaped by Coriolis storms and threatened by colossal sandworms.
