Ep 756 • "Why So Harsh Papa?"

Leviticus 26 seems to be a very harsh chapter. And truly it is. Thats because it's meant to be. But starting out with this premise will help us.

Every single commandment that God gave for His children, we're not for His good but for theirs. Everything He told them to do, or not to do, carried with it a positive or sometimes extremely negative consequence. As is often the case in Scripture, when God says "I will do this" or "I will not do that", it is stating that He is the one that has set up the consequences for good or bad behavior.

And he knew they were going to break his Commandments, and thereby bring upon themselves all kinds of evil consequences. Pretty much everything He said in Leviticus 26 would happen to them, eventually happened to them, and mostly done to them mostly by their enemies.
In addition, the spiritual gateways that they opened up through partnering with demons, allowed sickness and bondage and torment to come upon them in innumerable ways. Consequences.

So again, God was not trying to be mean. He was simply trying to give them the revelation that, "This is what happens when you do what's right, and this is what happens when you do what's wrong." Even with God not activly intervening in any of those consequences, there are absolute natural consequences that follow good and bad behavior.

That is not to say that God would not initiate something in the way of consequences, either good or bad, because it is obvious in the Scripture He has done that. But again, we need to realize that all of these Commandments, every single one of them, was given for their good. Whether the Commandment was to abstain from doing something evil, or to actively do something good, God was commanding but he was commanding for their good.

God had their back and was certainly not being a mean. God was looking out for their good. And His Commandments today through his Son Jesus are the same. God is always always looking out for us and has our best interest in mind. God is a good Father always. Even if we don't see it. Even if we don't understand it. His motives are always pure and they're always based in Love. Everything He does is good and right. And even if we can't understand it now, one day in heaven we will. That's something to rest our faith upon!
