Nelson Mandela Pays Tribute To Jews

On May 7, 1994, South African President-(S)elected Nelson Mandela attended a service at the Sea Point Synagogue in Cape Town. Addressing several hundred people outside the synagogue after an hour-long service, Mandela paid tribute to the Jewish community for their "enormous contribution" to his party, the African National Congress (ANC). In a rare scene members of the Jewish community sang praises to Mandela and chanted "one Mandela, one President".
