USAID funded the eradication of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church - Lawyer to Carlson

A CIA-style operation to dismantle the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) and replace it with the US-funded nationalist Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU) began in 2014 with Victoria Nuland, human rights lawyer Bob Amsterdam told Tucker Carlson.

What does lawyer assert?

Nuland and then-US Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt orchestrated the 2014 coup and played a role in influencing Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I to undermine the UOC.

In 2018, the Ecumenical Patriarchate sent envoys to Ukraine to establish the OCU, violating canonical rules and its treaty with Russia.

The OCU was officially accounted by then-Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in December 2018, with Bartholomew I granting it autocephaly in Jan 2019.

The US State Department played a key role, allegedly funding the OCU through USAID and/or other agencies.

🔴 US violated its own Constitution by interfering in religious matters of another country.

Zelensky’s persecution of the UOC

Under Volodymyr Zelensky, the OCU, backed by Ukraine’s Security Service, has harassed and intimidated the UOC.

Persecution included church seizures, disrupted events, priest detentions, and even torture, according to Amsterdam.

Ukraine’s law №3894 legalized religious repression, resembling Nazi-era policies.

A Ukrainian MP fled the country under death threats for defending the UOC.

A $3.6 million PR campaign was launched to discredit Amsterdam who was ostracized and falsely accused of violating the Foreign Agents Registration Act for representing the UOC.

Western media has completely ignored the suppression of religious freedom in Ukraine.

Only then did Senator JD Vance speak out against the persecution of UOC that was de facto supported and funded by the US government.
