February 20, 2025, New York, NY – Monica Lewinsky is once again stepping into the spotlight, this time on her own terms. In her new podcast, Reclaiming with Monica Lewinsky, the former White House intern reflects on her past, the fallout from the 1998 Bill Clinton scandal, and how she believed the relationship had a future.

Lewinsky, now 51, admits that at the time, she saw herself as more important to Clinton than she actually was.

"I think I believed that I mattered a lot more than I did," she revealed in the first episode, acknowledging how her perspective has changed over time.

She described how her time in Washington, D.C., and her role at the White House shaped her, saying:

"I fell in love with D.C. and the White House and the job and the environment, and then, very unfortunately, I fell in love with my boss who was married and also the most powerful man in the world."

From Scandal to Advocacy

Lewinsky, who became the center of one of America’s most scrutinized political scandals, spoke about how the aftermath affected her:

"Coming out of '98, I lost my anonymity, I lost my future, I lost my sense of self."

After years away from the public eye, Lewinsky reemerged in 2015 as an advocate against public shaming and online bullying, delivering a TED Talk that went viral.

Now, she’s using her podcast to reclaim her voice and challenge the culture of public humiliation that shaped her early life. She also credits Michelle Obama as an inspiration for the theme of Reclaiming, saying the former First Lady’s memoir, Becoming, influenced her approach.

While Lewinsky’s latest reflections bring new personal insight, the Clinton scandal remains a dark chapter in American political history. As she revisits the past, the question lingers—was it truly a “consensual relationship,” or an abuse of power that altered the course of her life forever?
