Info from Licensor: "While parked at the shops, I saw this roo nearly get hit by a bus. I went looking to check on him and what unfolded got a bit dramatic. I crossed the road and found the roo swimming in the surf, things started to look a little odd when he couldn't seem to get out of the water. Two people that were closer to the roo, dragged him out of the water. We called for help, and pretty soon, two cops arrived, however, we were struggling to get any wildlife help, so after about an hour of sitting with roo and keeping him warm, we uncovered him to see if he could stand on his own. He started to stand but he was very disoriented.
He stood still for nearly an hour. We tried to herd the roo back towards bushland, but he had other ideas and hopped straight back into the water. When the roo started to go under, Senior Sergeant Chris Russo leaped into action and dived straight in to rescue him! Constable Kirby Tonkin was right behind him. They pulled the roo out and drained the water from his lungs, wrapped him up and took him back to the station for wildlife carers to pick up. The roo is now recovering in a wildlife sanctuary."
