Waterbury Police Officer Shot

On February 13, 2025, at approximately 8:30 p.m., the Waterbury Police Department received a complaint of an attempted carjacking in the area of 59 Waterville Street, Waterbury. The complainant reported that three masked men with a gun attempted to steal his motor vehicle. He was able to drive away. The three were in a white Ford Explorer or Expedition.

At approximately 8:50 p.m., the Waterbury Police Department received a second complaint of an attempted carjacking in the area of 109 Chase Avenue, Waterbury. The complainant in that matter reported that a party in a white Ford Explorer pointed a firearm at him and stole his car keys. In response to these complaints, Sergeant Steve Martin and Detective Ronald Sackett of the Waterbury Police Department responded to the area of America Street on a report of a car alarm going off.

The report was that three subjects were trying to break into a vehicle. Upon arrival on America Street, police observed a white Ford Explorer. A civilian indicated that the subjects ran toward 16 Clairmont Street. The officers went to that location and proceeded to move around the residence from opposite directions with Detective Sackett on the eastern side. As Detective Sackett turned the corner to the back of the residence, a subject, later identified as Arian Perez-Feliciano, emerged from the western corner of the house. He was armed with a firearm equipped with a laser sight.

The subject fired multiple rounds at Detective Sackett, striking him in the leg. Detective Sackett returned fire. The subject was not hit. Detective Sackett was taken to Waterbury Hospital. He was treated for a through-andthrough gunshot wound to his upper leg, and was released on February 14th .

Police arrested Arian Perez-Feliciano, 20 years old, near the scene. He has been charged with Attempted Murder, Assault on a Police Officer and related charges.
