At the height of the war in Afghanistan in 2010, UK commandos rescued a puppy during an intense firefight. They carried her in their backpacks and later wrapped her in a flack jacket for 6-months to keep her safe. When they were recalled to England, they wanted to take her home but government regulations forbade it. Searching for an answer, they heard about Leo's satellite rescue operation in Kabul. They safely brought her there and she began her journey to DELTA Rescue in California.

Maxine is 15-years-old now and one of Leo's most beloved dogs. Leo published Maxine's story today, his late WWII veteran dad's birthday. He would have been 101 today. He served in Patton's Red Diamond infantry division. He would have loved this war dog rescue.
