"Space Academy" is an American live-action, science fiction television series that aired on CBS Saturday mornings in 1977. The show, geared towards children, followed young cadets with special abilities as they explored space under the tutelage of Commander Gampu, played by Jonathan Harris. Episodes often incorporated moral lessons, similar to a "Teens in Space" version of Star Trek. The series featured familiar props from "Ark II" and introduced the robot Peepo, capitalizing on the popularity of R2-D2. "Jason of Star Command" later spun off from the series, reusing many of the sets.
