Bernie Sanders: Musk Can Say Outrageous Things To Millions, Democrats Don't Have That Capability
Bernie Sanders: Musk Could Say The Most Outrageous Thing To Hundreds Of Millions Of People, Democrats Don't Have That Capability
Kaitlan Collins: To respond to them claiming Social Security is...
Bernie Sanders: Yeah, of course we gotta. Yeah, I think there's an effort to bring forth a war room. There's a ton of lies and misinformation going out to respond to that. But the truth of the matter is.
Kaitlan Collins: Is a war room. Is that, is that enough? I mean, Trump was elected three months ago.
Bernie Sanders: Yeah, well, one of the things what's not enough is that Elon Musk could say the most outrageous thing tomorrow, it goes out to hundreds of millions of people. Democrats do not have that capability, which takes us to a couple of other issues. It takes us the fact that should a guy who put was a $270 million into Trump's campaign now become the most important person in the government? Is that really how democracy is supposed to work? Which takes you to a corrupt campaign finance system and the need to overturn Citizens United, among other things.
Kaitlan Collins: Elon Musk agreed with someone on Twitter, a conservative influencer who, who called you a fraud recently.
Bernie Sanders: Really?
Kaitlan Collins: Because you, because you didn't vote for Tulsi Gabbard.
Bernie Sanders: That makes me a fraud?
Kaitlan Collins: What's your response to that?
Bernie Sanders: I don't want to respond. I've been called many things by Elon Musk, and I think Musk is nervous about. So we're gonna rally the American people to say that there is something profoundly wrong when a guy that's worth over $400 billion is cutting programs so that he can get more tax breaks. Enough really is enough.
Kaitlan Collins: And how do you do that?
Bernie Sanders: Well, as I said, we're starting off in Nebraska and Omaha. We're going to Iowa City. And I and others are going to be going all over this country to make it clear to the American people what's at stake. Bottom line is, look, this is America. People fought and died for our democracy. We need a government that works for all of us, not just Elon Musk and his fellow billionaires.
Kaitlan Collins: Senator Bernie Sanders. Great to have you as always. Thank you very much. We'll be sure to cover that tour. Up next, President Trump...

Bernie Sanders claims, "Elon Musk could say the most outrageous thing tomorrow, it goes out to hundreds of millions of people. Democrats do not have that capability." That’s inaccurate. Democrats have abundant channels to reach the public, constantly utilizing such platforms to spread outrageous things, false narratives, lies, propaganda, and misinformation. Democrats dominate corporate, liberal, and public media—entities like CNN, MSNBC, The New York Times, The Washington Post, ABC, NBC, CBS, NPR, PBS, and more—all firmly under their control. This extends to Hollywood, celebrities, the music industry, Big Tech, academia, publishing, labor unions, professional sports, the religious left, and international organizations such as the WHO and UN. The Democrats’ reach is massive and far-reaching, far exceeding Musk’s X platform. Consider the numbers: these entities collectively reach billions—corporate media alone, including CNN, MSNBC, NYT, WaPo, ABC, NBC, CBS, NPR, and PBS, exceeds 200 million monthly; Hollywood and celebrities connect with 500 million through films and social media; Big Tech giants like Google and Meta engage 4 billion users; and unions, sports, and global organizations add hundreds of millions more. That totals roughly 5 billion people impacted globally, dwarfing Musk’s reach.
Then he claims Elon Musk is the most important person in government. Sanders is off base—Musk serves as an unpaid adviser to President Trump, while Donald Trump, as president, wields the true influence. Musk didn’t risk his companies or life merely to secure more tax cuts. He isn’t personally cutting programs—he advises Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency, recommending reductions like USAID’s budget, without authority to implement them directly. Sanders distorts this into a personal attack, mischaracterizing Musk’s advisory role. For 34 years in Congress, Bernie has targeted “tax breaks for the rich” at every dissenter—it’s his go-to tactic. Yet what’s wrong with tax breaks? He behaves as if the government owns every penny we earn, framing it as greed or crime to retain more of our own income. That’s typical of a socialist who believes all wealth belongs to the state.
If anyone has reason to be nervous, it’s Bernie Sanders, for being complicit in laundering $30.71 trillion through the US government during his 34 years in Congress.
