Socialist Bernie Sanders: What we are seeing right now, Kaitlin, is a very dangerous moment. I'm laughing here, but it is not funny. This country is moving very rapidly under Trump into an authoritarian form of society. You know, the founding fathers way back in the 1770s, these were nobody's fools and what they, you know, they had fought the king of England and autocrat had all the power and they said, you know what? We don't want that in the new country. We're gonna set up three separate equal branches of government. Every kid in the 6th grade knows who they are, but Trump does not. And what Trump is doing now is trying every day to usurp the powers of Congress to challenge the powers of the court. It is a very dangerous moment.

Socialist Bernie Sanders, who has been in Congress for 34 years, warned that America is “moving very rapidly under Trump into an authoritarian form of society.” But let’s look at the accuser. Sanders has clung to power for over three decades—can we really believe he won every election honestly? For years, he’s tirelessly pushed for a centralized government, demanding control over healthcare, wealth, and more. Yet he points the finger at Trump for authoritarianism for challenging the courts? Sanders’ own record—centralizing power, stifling choice—mirrors the traits he condemns. Worse, CNN’s Kaitlan Collins gave him 12 minutes to spin this narrative. Do they forget Trump won the popular vote in 2024? Sanders can cry “authoritarian” all he wants, but voters chose Trump’s vision. The irony’s thick: a socialist with authoritarian tendencies lectures us on democracy while ignoring the electorate’s voice.
