Your vagus nerve might just be the key to instant calm.
Think of it as your body’s reset button, shifting you out of fight-or-flight and into relaxation.
Check out these tips:
1️⃣ Deep Diaphragmatic Breathing:
Inhale deeply through your nose for a count of 4, letting your belly expand.
Hold your breath for 4 seconds.
Exhale slowly through your mouth for a count of 6.
Repeat for 1–2 minutes to feel your body relax.
2️⃣ Cold Exposure:
Splash cold water on your face or place an ice pack on the back of your neck for 30 seconds.
This stimulates the vagus nerve and helps calm your nervous system.
3️⃣ Humming or Singing:
Yes, you read that right!
Humming or singing vibrates your vocal cords, which are connected to your vagus nerve.
Try it for 1–2 minutes and feel the shift.
4️⃣ Gentle Neck Stretch:
Tilt your head to one side and hold for 10–15 seconds.
Repeat on the other side.
This stimulates the vagus nerve and releases tension.
5️⃣ Ground Yourself:
Sit or stand barefoot on grass, sand, or earth.
This reconnects you to your body and helps activate relaxation.
