Former Warrick County councilman, Ted Metzger, discusses the 2025 Indiana property tax reform and the impact with Warrick County residents. Many residents are struggling to remain in their properties. The 1% property tax cap is meaningless and being circumvented with the re-evaluation of property valuations.

Mr Metzger proposes, in lieu of property taxes, to establish a sales tax replacement and reduction of the over exaggerated expenditures of county officials to balance the budget.

In 2021, the Warrick County Council abdicated its statutory fiduciary responsibility of paying expenditures to the Warrick County Commissioners. This eliminated any checks and balances and oversight. The Indiana State Board of Accounts identified a non-compliance issue with the $12,236,623 of the American Rescue Plan Act used for Broadband Infrastructure.

The Warrick County Commissioners refuted the SBOA findings. The Warrick County Council should have NEVER betrayed the trust of taxpayers to allow their responsibility to be transferred to the Warrick County Commissioners. As of February 2025, This “arrangement” still continues with the council abdicating its fiduciary responsibility to the commission. The payment of contractual obligations are allegedly being weaponized with this unorthodox agreement. It needs to end immediately to restore integrity to the political process.
