Since before President Trump came back into office, some reporting has indicated that the illegal alien flow through the Darien Gap and up through Panama and Mexico has dropped dramatically, taking pressure off of border security forces in the United States but is that reporting accurate? Since coming into office, the President has frozen foreign aid funding and has targeted specific United Nations organizations, but is it impacting the UN’s support of the illegal alien flow into the United States and funding to the non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that have established and run camps in the Darien Gap and provide guidance to illegals on how to get to and into the US? The new administration has deployed ten thousand troops to secure our Southern border and has commitments from Mexico to increase enforcement on their side of the border. The Panamanian President as you just heard has committed to closing the Darien Gap and removing Panama from China’s Belt and Road initiative, possibly alleviating concerns over the Chinese Communist Party having control over Panama Canal operations.
