New York, NY, February 17, 2025 — Saturday Night Live (SNL) ignited backlash during its 50th Anniversary special, airing a controversial skit featuring actor Tom Hanks playing a racist caricature of a Trump supporter—a portrayal many are calling blatant propaganda rather than comedy.

Tom Hanks’ ‘Doug’ Character Takes a Sinister Turn
The skit, “Black Jeopardy,” originally aired in 2016 with a more balanced portrayal of working-class Trump voters and Black Americans finding common ground. However, in this latest version, SNL took a darker approach, portraying Hanks’ character as a clueless bigot who recoils at the thought of shaking a Black man’s hand.

The scene unfolded with Kenan Thompson’s character offering a handshake, only for Hanks’ character to react in disgust, exclaiming:

“Oh, no, I don’t like that.”

The moment was followed by Hanks’ character suggesting:

“Maybe I’ll start a show for you to come on, and we’ll call it ‘White Jeopardy.’”

Even among SNL’s liberal audience, the skit received little laughter, with many calling it forced and unfunny.

Comedy or Smear Campaign?
The segment has fueled outrage across social media, with critics arguing that SNL is no longer about comedy, but rather a blatant mouthpiece for leftist narratives.

“This isn’t comedy—it’s straight-up propaganda,” one user posted on X.

Trump supporters and conservatives have long accused Hollywood and mainstream entertainment of pushing divisive rhetoric and demonizing middle America. The 50th Anniversary episode has only further cemented those concerns.

Was this just another lazy late-night skit, or an intentional smear campaign against Trump voters? Watch the clip and decide for yourself.
