Song of Songs (11) - From Contrition to Confession (SS1 V3)

This channel is inspired by the Virgin Mary’s obedient spirit that pondered the word of God (Lk 2:19), treasured it and kept it in her heart (Lk 2:51). In following her example, the channel aims to create a sacred space of encounter with the Lord, and to lead people down a path of spiritual intimacy with Him.

In this series on the Song of Songs, I dissect this beautiful book of the Bible verse by verse. At the end of each video, I suggest a thought, image, or idea to ponder on during your personal prayer time.

Verse of the episode: SS 1:3 – “Your anointing oils are fragrant.”

Episode-Specific References:
• St Bernard of Clairvaux: commentary on the song of songs (sermon number 16).
• Mt 27:4 – ‘“I have sinned in betraying innocent blood.”
• Gen 4:13 – ‘Cain said to the LORD, “My punishment is greater than I can bear.’
• Story of a soul, Saint Therese of Lisieux – ““It is not because I have been preserved from mortal sin that I lift up my heart to God in trust and love. I feel that even had I on my conscience every crime one could commit, I should lose nothing of my confidence: my heart broken with sorrow, I would throw myself into the Arms of my Saviour. I know that He loves the Prodigal Son, I have heard His words to St. Mary Magdalen, to the woman taken in adultery, and to the woman of Samaria. No one could frighten me, for I know what to believe concerning His Mercy and His Love. And I know that all that multitude of sins would disappear in an instant, even as a drop of water cast into a flaming furnace.”
