Tithing is an Old Testament concept. The tithe was a requirement of the Law in which the Israelite's were to give 10 percent of the crops they grew and the livestock they raised to the tabernacle/temple

Some references to tithing are these scriptures
(Leviticus 27:30; Numbers 18:26; Deuteronomy 14:24; 2 Chronicles 31:5)
After the death of Jesus Christ fulfilled the Law, the New Testament nowhere commands, or even recommends, that Christians submit to a legalistic tithe system.

Current christian churches manipulate the scriptures & concepts of tithing. By saying the 10% tithe needs to go to your local church & that it has to be your money. Both of those statements are wrong Jesus himself states he freely gave us the word & to never charge money for the gospel. (Matthew 10:7-10)

King James Bible 1 Timothy 5:18
For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.
The reward is being fed for your word & to have your minimal requirements met so it's possible to preach the gospel.
Prosperity preaching is a man made concept & is pure blasphemy. Matthew 12;30-12:33 Anyone that promotes this concept is teaching a different Gospel.Which we as Christians are not accept & not to be deceived.

“This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is God’s word. Luke 8:11
The seed is always God's it's never money. So when churches say to sow a seed it is a manipulation of scripture.

The New Testament nowhere designates a percentage of income a person should set aside, but only says gifts should be “in keeping with income” (1 Corinthians 16:2)
