Suno - Curmudgeon's Birthday Song

Here's a little song from Suno.com I whipped up for my father's birthday—and to some degree, for my own, since I'm not exactly a spring chicken myself. To some degree, it's inspired by "The Happy Happy Birthday Song" by the Arrogant Worms, which is also rather cynically humorous about what birthdays mean to us older folks.

Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
When you were small, each year that passed brought more good things your way:
A rise in height, a rise in grade; "You're springing up," they'd say.
Yet now you're grown, your childhood's passed, your college days are gone,
The days seem short, yet hours so long; how do you carry on?

[Chorus]
Here's to you, birthday boy, as age clouds up your eyes;
One year closer to the days each last one of us dies.
So make a wish and snuff those flames and cut the friggin' cake;
Be grateful life's not over yet, and smile, for goodness' sake!

[Verse 2]
Your aching back and aching feet and thinning hair tell you
For hours of youth you whiled away, the bills are coming due.
The childhood hours you spent at school were on your life a curse;
But now you're grown, the hours you spend at work are even worse!

[Chorus]
Here's to you, birthday boy, as age clouds up your eyes;
One year closer to the days each last one of us dies.
So make a wish and snuff those flames and cut the friggin' cake;
Be grateful life's not over yet, and smile, for goodness' sake!

[Verse 3]
The gifts years gave you as a child these years now take away;
You've work to do, problems to fix, taxes, and bills to pay.
So take a load off; take a break from running this rat race.
Fill your glass and fill your plate; drink up, and stuff your face!

[Chorus]
Here's to you, birthday boy, as age clouds up your eyes;
One year closer to the days each last one of us dies.
So make a wish and snuff those flames and cut the friggin' cake;
Be grateful life's not over yet, and smile, for goodness' sake!

[Bridge]
"Youth is wasted on the young," some say, and they are not lying;
Still, when you age up and you age out, that's when life lets you stop trying.
So here's to you: we hope you get whatever it is you're wishing;
And when Death comes knocking at your door, we hope you'll be out fishing!

[Instrumental]

[Chorus]
Here's to you, birthday boy, as age clouds up your eyes;
One year closer to the days each last one of us dies.
So make a wish and snuff those flames and cut the friggin' cake;
Be grateful life's not over yet, and smile, for goodness' sake!
