Ukraine’s U.S.-Supplied M60 AVLB Bridge Layer: From Winter 2024 to Kursk Battle

"The first photos of the American M60 AVLB bridge-layer, transferred to the 5th Tank Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, appeared back in the winter of 2024 (frames 1-2). In March 2023, a U.S. military aid package was announced, which first mentioned the bridge layers, identified as decommissioned M60 AVLBs. The exact number of delivered units is unknown, but sources report several dozen vehicles. They were spotted during the invasion of the Kursk region in the fall of 2024. An M60 AVLB was used during an attack by the 82nd Air Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and was subsequently destroyed by our forces.

The M60 AVLB, developed based on the M60 tank, can deploy MLC 60 bridges, 18 meters long with a load capacity of about 50 tons."
