Residents of Kerala’s forest-fringe hamlets have welcomed the state’s 10-point action plan to curb human-wildlife conflict. Measures include increased patrolling, real-time monitoring via cameras, and equipping Rapid Response Teams (RRTs) with modern tools. Primary Response Teams will be formed with local volunteers, and traditional tribal knowledge will be used. Solar fence installation will be expedited. Farmers troubled by wild elephants and boars hope these efforts will help. With recent fatal attacks, residents urge central assistance and amendments to the Wildlife Protection Act to address the growing threat.
