Irish TV presenter Laura Whitmore has shared the last text messages from Caroline Flack on the fifth anniversary of her death. Flack, who hosted ITV’s Love Island, tragically took her own life on February 15, 2020, at age 40.

Whitmore, 39, shared screenshots of messages where Flack encouraged her after learning she’d been offered the Love Island hosting role, calling it “perfect” alongside love heart emojis. Whitmore, who hosted the show from 2020 to 2022, reflected on their bond, saying Flack was always supportive.

Posting on Instagram, Whitmore revealed she recovered the messages while downloading WhatsApp backups. “It really hit me hard,” she said, adding the messages showcase a kinder side of Flack often overlooked.

Whitmore also condemned the divisive treatment of women in the spotlight, referencing the intense media scrutiny Flack faced before her death. She expressed hope that Flack is now “at peace.”

Flack’s friend Louise Redknapp also paid tribute, sharing photos and fond memories on social media. Flack’s mother continues to honor her legacy, unveiling a suicide prevention bench in London and contributing to a Disney+ documentary celebrating her life and career.

Flack’s passing highlighted the need for mental health awareness and compassion in public discourse.
