This is a recent clip where Randall goes into what has occurred over and over again on Planet Earth. Catastrophes, Floods and Extinction Events. We are in a process now of knowing more and processing more information with our Computer and Tracking abilities but it could all end in a heartbeat. Do we have backup? A plan B,C or D? Because of the insane period of time without exploration, Randall states the MOON is an obvious connector that we should develop a strategy around to preserve our most precious information that we could store there. Existential threats

The main motivation behind the lunar ark is to create a secure off-world storage facility for biodiversity.

"I like to use the data analogy," Thanga said. "It's like copying your photos and documents from your computer onto a separate hard drive, so you have a backup if anything goes wrong."
Therefore, if an apocalyptic event destroyed the natural world or wiped out most of humanity, there would be a chance to "hit a reset button," Thanga said.
This could be a necessity to develop and facilitate as our delicate computer structures may be the first to go if a KpIndex 100 CME were to hit the earth. Where it might not only destroy our Sats and Data storage ability but also everything in our lives gone would cast us back to the "dark ages" culturally.
Something to think about.. and the money that we will save in paying other Countries .. taxes, Greed and Fed Govt maleficence.. may go a long way into providing for the continuation of our species.
Looks like Elon has already got an ahead on Data Storage on the Moon.

Lonestar Data Holdings to launch first-ever data center on the moon.
Will use SpaceX rockets and Intuitive Machines’ lunar lander.

Lonestar Data Holdings has set its sights on an historic achievement: establishing the first physical data center on the moon. The ambitious space startup plans to launch the fully assembled data center, called Freedom, next month aboard SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket. FEB 2025
