The first time I ever metal detected was at Bachelor Creek in June of 2006.

That was also what sparked the need to dredge because It was hot and the gnats were thick as the a foggy day in Oregon. From the Steese to Bachelor Creek where we prospected was about 5 miles but it is a road that the highway maintenance crews didn't take care of (even though their building was at the entrance to Bachelor Creek) so it takes about 45 mins to get to the area where we prospect.
I digress... When we were heading up I spotted what I thought was someone burning a trash pile. BUT the problem was it was in a place that no one lived and there were no roads in that area. We went into Bachelor Creek and we planned on staying for the weekend. About the second day it started getting a little smokey. By the middle of the day it started getting real smokey. I told Bill that we should get out of there because there are no radio signals or even cell reception there.
Anyway back to Nora... I had bought her a Minelab SD2200 because I already had one and knew how to use it. She was always with me and helped dig the targets before that. Bachelor Creek was her first time at actually using it. Soooo I just turned her loose. She was happy as a new born baby artic fox.
