Fading Days

Soft voices on the radio,
Laughter carried by the wind.
Barefoot steps on empty roads,
A time I’ll never walk again.

I reach for shadows in the light,
But they slip right through my hands.
Every place that felt like home,
Now just echoes in the sand.

Oh, those days are fading,
Like colors in the rain.
No way back, no way to save them,
Just ghosts I call by name.
I close my eyes to see them,
But the picture turns to gray.
Oh, those days are fading,
And I can’t make them stay.

Photographs in boxes high,
Frozen smiles from years ago.
I swear I hear their voices call,
But maybe it’s just how the cold wind blows.

I reach for shadows in the light,
But they slip right through my hands.
Every place that felt like home,
Now just echoes in the sand.

Oh, those days are fading,
Like colors in the rain.
No way back, no way to save them,
Just ghosts I call by name.
I close my eyes to see them,
But the picture turns to gray.
Oh, those days are fading,
And I can’t make them stay.
