NYC corruption: Manhattan's top federal prosecutor steps down
Instead of following a Justice Department directive to drop corruption charges against NYC Mayor Adams, Manhattan's top federal prosecutor resigned on Thursday.
A representative for the office verified Danielle Sassoon's resignation.
Days after a top-level Justice Department official ordered New York prosecutors to withdraw the case against Adams, she resigned.
Andrew Craft of LiveNOW discussed Sassoon's resignation with Neama Rahmani, a former federal prosecutor.
In a document on Monday, Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove recommended that the case be dropped so that Adams, a Democrat, could support President Donald Trump's reelection campaign and immigration crackdown.
Manhattan's top federal prosecutor resigned Thursday, refusing to drop corruption allegations against NYC Mayor Adams as ordered by the Justice Department.
