Healing from Infidelity: A Conversation with Transformational Life Coach Beth Fischer
What better time to discuss betrayal and healing than Valentine’s Day? While this season celebrates love, millions of Americans are silently enduring heartbreak caused by infidelity. Many feel lost, alone, and unsure where to turn. In this powerful episode, Nurse Michele sits down with Beth Fischer, a betrayal trauma recovery specialist, to offer guidance, hope, and a path to healing.
Infidelity and Divorce: The Hard Truth
Infidelity is one of the leading causes of divorce in America. Studies show that 20-25% of married men and 10-15% of married women admit to cheating at some point in their marriage. The fallout is often devastating, and for those who turn to traditional marital counseling, the results are mixed at best.
When it comes to divorce, statistics reveal stark differences:
• Religious marriages have a slightly lower divorce rate, around 30-35%, compared to the 40-50% divorce rate for non-religious marriages.
• The most common causes of divorce include infidelity, financial strain, lack of communication, and unmet emotional needs.
Why Marital Counseling is Not the Answer
For many in the Christian community, seeking help after infidelity often means turning to a pastor or faith-based marriage counseling. Unfortunately, this approach fails to recognize the unique trauma of betrayal and often does more harm than good.
The truth is, the betrayed spouse has done nothing wrong and does not need counseling to “fix” a broken marriage. Instead, they are a trauma victim, reeling from the realization that their world has been turned upside down. Everything they believed to be true about their spouse—the person they chose to build a life with, to raise children with, to grow old with—has been shattered.
Marital counseling assumes both partners contributed to the problem, but in cases of infidelity, only one person made the choice to betray the relationship. The focus should not be on “repairing the marriage” but rather on helping the betrayed spouse recover and holding the unfaithful partner accountable for their actions while helping the betrayer, get to the root cause of why they were willing to jeopardize the family unit.
Beth Fischer’s Revolutionary Approach to Healing
Rather than pushing for immediate reconciliation, Beth Fischer helps couples navigate a 4-6-month healing journey that focuses on:
• Healing the betrayed spouse from deep emotional trauma.
• Identifying the root cause of why the betrayer cheated.
• Rebuilding trust through real transformation, not blind forgiveness.
Through her group coaching, masterclasses, webinars, and one-on-one counseling, Beth helps couples either restore their marriage on a solid foundation or gain the clarity needed to walk away with peace.
The Stages of Betrayal Trauma & The Path to Healing
During the episode, Nurse Michele and Beth dive deep into:
• Why betrayal trauma is uniquely devastating and harder to heal from than other emotional wounds.
• The biggest roadblocks to reconciliation and how to overcome them.
• How to rebuild trust after infidelity—based on Beth’s own journey of healing and reconciliation with her husband.
• The emotional stages betrayed partners go through and how to navigate them.
If you have suffered the pain of infidelity, whether it happened recently or decades ago, this episode is for you. Healing is possible, and you don’t have to go through it alone.
