Children's Bible Stories-The Owl and the Grasshopper

The Owl, a bird, sleeps during the day and wakes up at night to hunt for bugs, beetles, frogs, and mice. As she ages, she becomes more difficult to please, especially when things disturb her sleep. One summer, while sleeping in her den in an old oak tree, a Grasshopper sings a raspy song. The Owl, knowing she wouldn't argue with the Grasshopper, speaks kindly and agrees to stay awake. The Grasshopper, taken in by the Owl's flattery, tries to eat him, but the Owl pounces upon him. Proverbs warns against letting flattery lead to destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall.
