Tony Quigley, the YouTube antagonist who also operates under the names Tony Harris and Harry Munker, has publicly denied being the same Tony Harris mentioned in a September 2013 news report as the sole witness to the Hollow Pond fires on the border between Wanstead and Leytonstone, London.

The original report, published by The Guardian, quoted a witness named Tony Harris, 34, from Blackhorse Lane in Walthamstow, who described seeing massive flames and a plume of smoke while exercising near the pond.

“I was doing some push-ups on the other side [of Hollow Ponds] and saw the smoke,” Harris told The Guardian in 2013. “At first, I thought it was a barbecue, but when I went closer I thought – whoah, that’s no barbecue. There was a massive plume of smoke and I could see these huge flames, they seemed like they were 50 feet high. They went up so high some of the trees started to catch fire. It was quite a big area – it’s been devastated. The grass is really dry at the moment and I’m sure it didn’t take much to catch fire. I think it might have been started deliberately.”

The question of whether Quigley was the same Tony Harris from the article resurfaced during a recent live stream hosted by Brighton mayoral candidate Matt Taylor on YouTube. Responding to repeated requests from both Taylor and audience members, Quigley firmly denied any connection to the news story.

“For the record, the news story at Hollow Ponds isn’t me, just like I wasn’t the loan shark from Southend,” Quigley stated.

However, critics remain skeptical, questioning why it has taken Quigley eight months to publicly address the claim after it was first brought to light by YouTube user Trouser Mouse and further amplified by Guerrilla Democracy News.

With a reputation for being evasive and dishonest, some question whether Quigley’s denial is genuine or simply another attempt to sidestep accountability. The jury remains out on whether this latest statement from Quigley puts the matter to rest or raises further doubts about his credibility.
