Since the beginning, God has desired deep intimacy with humanity. This longing is illustrated through the Melchizedek priesthood, symbolized by the offering of bread and wine. These symbols reappear throughout biblical history, culminating in Jesus Christ revealing that the bread represents His body and the wine His blood. Through this, God expresses a desire to dwell within humanity and for humanity to dwell within Him, establishing a relationship of profound closeness and unity.

Intimacy with God is not defined by human standards but by His. It is essential to seek out what God considers true friendship and closeness by exploring scripture. This intimacy goes beyond religious rituals or obligations; it invites believers into fellowship and dialogue with God, where they can share in His counsel and heart.

This relationship is not about maintaining distant reverence but about entering a friendship where God listens and responds, even inviting feedback and conversation. Like Moses, who spoke boldly with God, and Abraham, who reasoned with Him, intimacy involves open communication grounded in deep respect and love.

However, genuine intimacy requires action. It is not enough to acknowledge the relationship without nurturing it. Consistent prayer, studying scripture, and intentionally spending time in God’s presence are vital. One must guard against excuses that mask spiritual laziness, recognizing that intimacy is built through dedication and engagement, not merely emotional inclinations.

To sustain this relationship, a spiritual diet is necessary—one that includes the bread of God’s word for strength and the wine of His Spirit for renewed perspective. This nourishment empowers believers to fulfill God’s will with courage and wisdom. Bread gives the strength to act, while wine dispels fear, aligning one’s heart with God’s purpose.

To pursue this level of relationship, there must be a commitment to learn and grow. One must seek to understand God’s view of friendship and intimacy, moving beyond superficial knowledge into a mature and transformative relationship with Him. This journey requires vulnerability, a willingness to be changed, and a heart open to God’s love and guidance.

Approach this journey with expectation and readiness to experience God in a deeper, more intimate way. Let your heart be captivated by His love, and allow this divine relationship to shape every part of your life.
