Promises in the Air

They speak of dreams, of brighter days,
Words that dance in golden rays.
A future painted with colors bold,
But the warmth of hope feels cold.

The echoes rise, the voices blend,
A chorus sung that seems to bend.
Yet as I reach, there’s nothing there,
Just empty promises in the air.

Promises in the air, so light, so free,
Drifting high, but not for me.
They shimmer bright, then fade away,
Like fleeting stars at break of day.

Promises in the air, they rise, they fall,
Weightless whispers, meaning small.
I’ve heard them once, I’ve heard them all,
Just promises in the air, that’s all.

They build their castles in the sky,
Words so sweet, but laced with lies.
Each vow a thread that slowly frays,
A fragile dream that drifts astray.

I’ve learned to stand on solid ground,
To seek the truth where it’s truly found.
For what’s the use of chasing flair,
When all that’s left is empty air?

Promises in the air, so light, so free,
Drifting high, but not for me.
They shimmer bright, then fade away,
Like fleeting stars at break of day.

Promises in the air, they rise, they fall,
Weightless whispers, meaning small.
I’ve heard them once, I’ve heard them all,
Just promises in the air, that’s all.

I’ll walk my path, I’ll write my name,
No empty words, no hollow claims.
For in my hands, I hold what’s real,
A life I build, a truth I feel.

So let them drift, let them soar,
I won’t chase them anymore.
For what I seek is solid and rare,
Not fleeting promises in the air
