Join Dr. Mav. and special guest Mike ter Maat. Dr. Mavrakakis was a senior campaign staffer for Mike on the campaign trail and is looking to forward to chatting with Mike who is both a colleague in liberty and a great friend. They may even share some funny campaign trail stories! They will discuss current events including the Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Senate confirmation as well as President Trumps many executive orders, Gaza, the border, deportations, ENDING THE FED, DEI- especially the EQUITY part, and more. Mike served as the Libertarian Party’s vice-presidential candidate in 2024 and campaigned for the LP's presidential nomination from 2022 to 2024 on a platform centered on boosting the money families earn and retain. This program included reducing government spending, dismantling the inflation machine, sunsetting the regulatory state, separation of science and state, and a foreign policy of strength through peace. Mike advocated for a Gold New Deal between us and the government we would tolerate, based on individual rights and the decentralization of public-sector authority.Mike’s first career included working with banks as a commercial loan officer, with the White House Office of Management and Budget as a financial economist, and with other federal and international agencies as a consulting economist. From 1992 through 2002, Mike was an advocate in Washington for free markets and greater competition in the financial services industry. In 2002, he founded a professional education and strategic consulting business which he successfully ran until 2009.In his second career, Mike served as a police officer in Broward County, Florida, from 2010 to 2021, including five years as a training officer. Mike has taught economics at three universities, substituted at dozens of public schools, and traveled through thirty-five countries. He has a wife, two kids and two stepdaughters, two dogs and one truck, a BS in Aeronautical Engineering and an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and MS and PhD degrees in Economics from The George Washington University.
