President Trump and Elon Musk Speak to Reporters About DOGE Efforts

The head of the Department of Government Efficiency, Elon Musk, joined President Trump in the Oval Office following the signing of new executive orders. The executive orders deal with the department's authority to continue cuts to the federal budget. According to the Associated Press, a White House fact sheet said that "agencies will undertake plans for large-scale reductions in force and determine which agency components (or agencies themselves) may be eliminated or combined because their functions aren't required by law." In questions from reporters Mr. Musk was asked about conflicts of interests pertaining his company SpaceX, which has a contract with the Department of Defense, as DOGE prepares to make cuts in that department.
