Musk Defends DOGE in Oval Office as Trump Blasts ‘Crazy’ Levels of Government Waste - Full Video
D.C. (Dist. of Criminals), February 11, 2025 — In a striking Oval Office moment, President Donald J. Trump and Elon Musk jointly defended the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), dismissing pushback against the agency’s aggressive moves to eliminate waste and restructure federal bureaucracy.
Musk, invited by Trump to speak from the White House, stood at the Resolute Desk while delivering a strong defense of his work, calling the initiative a direct response to voters demanding major government reform.
"The people voted for major government reform, and that’s what the people are going to get," Musk said. "That’s what democracy is all about."
Musk described his push to restructure federal agencies as a move toward common-sense controls, rejecting claims that his measures are “draconian.” In response to questions about potential conflicts of interest, Musk insisted, "Transparency is what builds trust."
Since the start of Trump’s presidency, Musk has spearheaded efforts to streamline government operations, overseeing mass buyouts of federal employees, eliminating redundant agencies, and attempting to integrate payment systems within the Treasury Department and other agencies. These efforts have drawn legal challenges from Democratic lawmakers, unions, and state officials.
Federal Judge Blocks DOGE From Treasury Access
A federal judge ruled on Saturday to block DOGE personnel—including Musk—from accessing Treasury Department payment systems, citing concerns over political appointees overseeing federal financial data. However, a clarification on Tuesday stated that the restriction does not extend to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, allowing him to maintain control over government financial operations.
Trump strongly criticized the ruling, questioning whether judges were deliberately interfering with his ability to govern.
"It seems hard to believe that judges want to stop us," Trump said. "It seems hard to believe that a judge could say we don’t want you to do that. Then we have to look at the judges because I think it’s a very serious violation."
DOGE’s Next Target: The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau
Despite legal setbacks, DOGE continues targeting various federal agencies, having already scaled back operations at USAID and now setting its sights on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). Musk and Trump argue that such agencies have grown beyond their intended purpose, contributing to what Trump called “insane levels of waste.”
As the White House faces ongoing legal battles over its push to restructure the government, Musk and Trump remain firmly committed to cutting inefficiencies—setting the stage for continued court fights over executive power and bureaucratic overreach.
