Two stay-at-home homeschooling moms (who happen to be sisters!) have a "kitchen table politics chat" about government, homeschooling and school choice from the side of supporting the bill HB1020, which died in committee a couple of weeks ago.
- Do we as homeschoolers support other families wanting other options that might not be homeschooling?
- Do we believe homeschoolers were actually targeted with these school choice bills?
- How do we work to help families while working in a broken system where government overreach is everywhere in our society today?
- How can we help families that don't have the financial feasibility to be totally independent from the government to pull their kids from public schools?
- Is it fair for those homeschooling families who enjoy more financial stability to decide what kind of bill to push while there's families who don't have those kinds of options or financial securities?
- How can we create a united front with families of all walks of life, regardless of their financial state? How can we put ourselves in their shoes and how can we fight for giving parents of all walks of life the power to choose what's best for their kids?
- How do we be a truly informed voter?
- Is it good practice to look at who's behind various bills while discerning?
