I got a bunch of recipes from my grandma and other family members over the past couple of years and decided to share some of them with the world. This one struck me as different than the usual cake so I decided to give it a go. It was definitely a success with the family and me, so if you wanna give it a try, the recipe is down below!!

Chocolate Co-Cola Cake

Cake Ingredients
• 2 cups un-sifted regular flour
• 2 cups sugar
• 2 sticks unsalted butter
• 3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa
• 6 tbsp to 1 cup co-cola (play around with it)
• 1/2 cup buttermilk
• 2 eggs
• 1 tsp vanilla
• 1 cup chopped pecans (optional)
Topping Ingredients
• 1 cup pecans
• 3 tbsp cocoa
• 1/2 cup unsalted butter
• 1/4 cup co-cola
• 1 lb powdered sugar
• 1 tsp vanilla
Directions for Cake
1. Set oven to 350.
2. Sift flour into a large mixing bowl, then add sugar. Add cocoa and mix thoroughly.
3. Melt butter, add to flour, and mix until blended.
4. Add buttermilk, eggs, soda, and vanilla and mix until smooth.
5. Pour batter into pan and bake for 25-30 minutes. Check for doneness in the middle with a toothpick or cake tester.
6. Place in refrigerator to cool for 25-45 minutes. Once cooled, spread the icing on the cake.
Directions for Topping
1. Melt butter and pour into a medium-size mixing bowl.
2. Add cocoa, cola, and vanilla, then mix.
3. Pour the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, into the icing while mixing.
4. If using pecans, stir them in after icing is smooth and mix them in well.
