The Light of Lourdes
Today is February 11, 2025. In today's episode, we will reflect on the scripture readings from the 1962 Roman Missal, the traditional and historical saints honored today, and themes to inspire our faith journey. We will also meditate on the miraculous events of Lourdes and the powerful intercession of Our Blessed Mother.
Epistle: Isaiah 66:10-14
"Rejoice with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all you that love her."
Reflection:
The prophet Isaiah calls us to rejoice in the blessings God bestows upon His people. Just as Jerusalem is a symbol of God’s nurturing care, the apparition of Our Lady at Lourdes reminds us that Mary is a spiritual mother to all, offering consolation and healing to those who seek her intercession.
Gospel: John 2:1-11
The Wedding at Cana
"And the third day, there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the Mother of Jesus was there."
Reflection:
This Gospel passage highlights Mary's powerful intercession. When she notices the lack of wine, she intercedes with Jesus, who performs His first public miracle. Her instruction to the servants, "Do whatever He tells you," remains a guiding principle for all Christians. At Lourdes, Mary similarly directs us to trust in her Son and seek healing through prayer and faith.
Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes
On this day in 1858, Our Blessed Mother appeared to St. Bernadette Soubirous in Lourdes, France. The miraculous healings and spiritual conversions that followed make Lourdes one of the most beloved Marian pilgrimage sites in the world.
Reflection:
Our Lady's message at Lourdes emphasized prayer, penance, and trust in God's mercy. The waters of Lourdes have become a symbol of spiritual and physical healing.
Saint Caedmon of Whitby
A humble cowherd who became the first known poet of Christian hymnody in England after receiving a divine gift of song in a vision.

Let us conclude with a prayer, entrusting ourselves to the maternal care of Our Blessed Mother.
Prayer:
"O Mary, Our Lady of Lourdes, we come before you with hearts full of trust and love. Intercede for us before your Son, that we may experience His healing grace in body, mind, and soul.
