Marcus Jordan, son of iconic basketball player Michael Jordan, was arrested early Tuesday morning in Orange County, Florida, TMZ reported. The incident occurred after authorities spotted Marcus' Lamborghini SUV parked on a railroad track. This, with visible damage to the bumper and rocks raised near the vehicle, indicating that he had tried to escape the area without success.
Officers suspected that Jordan had evaded a nearby traffic control, but he explained that he had accidentally swerved and needed help to get his car off the tracks. However, officers noticed obvious signs of intoxication: a strong smell of alcohol, slurred speech, red eyes and drowsiness.
Despite initially being reluctant to cooperate, Marcus Jordan agreed to get out of the vehicle. In his statement, he admitted to consuming alcohol during a visit to a nightclub. But he said his blood alcohol level was below the legal limit.
Jordan was subjected to three breathalyzer tests, all of which he failed, leading to his arrest for drunk driving. In addition, during the search, police found a white powdery substance in his pocket, which later tested positive for cocaine.
Police reported that Marcus Jordan, son of famous former basketball player Michael Jordan, showed a combative attitude when trying to be transferred to the patrol car after his arrest. According to officers, the young man, once inside the police vehicle, was "singing all the way" to the nearest prison. When he was arrested, he refused to provide breath samples for the breathalyzer test.
Jordan faces three charges: for drunk driving with property damage, possession of cocaine and resisting authority without violence. After his arrest, he was given a bail of $4,000, and was released shortly after. As for his personal life, he was recently linked to Nicole Murphy, the ex-wife of actor Eddie Murphy, 56. Prior to that, he had been in an on-and-off relationship with Larsa Pippen for a period of two years.
