Nelligala International Buddhist Center is located 800 meters above sea level, approximately 12 kilometers from the city of Kandy, in the Kandy District of Sri Lanka, within the Yatinuwara Divisional Secretariat and the Kobbegoda village. This beautiful Buddhist religious site is surrounded by numerous scenic mountain ranges, including Sri Pada (Adam's Peak), the Nakuls mountain range, the Hantana mountain range, Alagalla, and Bathalegala, among others, all of which are visually significant. From this site, one can view 8 out of 25 districts in Sri Lanka and 5 out of 9 provinces, making it a remarkable location with unique geographical features.

Moreover, Nelligala International Buddhist Center offers a panoramic view of an area spanning around 360 degrees, and it is the only place in Kandy where one can clearly witness the sunrise, which is a favorite attraction for both locals and international visitors. The sunset views from this location are equally captivating. Over time, the center has become a prime tourist destination, attracting people from all walks of life, both Buddhists and non-Buddhists, who visit not only for religious purposes but also for sightseeing and spiritual experiences.

A major feature at Nelligala is the establishment of a shrine for the relics of Lord Buddha and revered monks, where a magnificent Shakyasingha Sugantha Shrine has been built. The shrine houses golden-plated offerings, which are admired by many who come to pay their respects. The building also contains a recently constructed Shakyasingha Maha Seya, which is a notable and historically significant pagoda, regarded as one of the fastest-built in Sri Lanka.

Additionally, the center features the SlAM Sri Lanka Vachira Suwannaphum Golden Pagoda, a beautiful structure funded by the generosity of Thai donors, and the name of the pagoda was chosen by the Chief Monk of Thailand. This highlights the deep international connections Nelligala International Buddhist Center maintains with Buddhist communities worldwide. Furthermore, in the direction of the Samanal Kanda mountain, the center has a new statue of Arya Shrāvaka Sumanasaman Deviyan, which has become another key attraction for tourists.
