Pug Growls At A Picture Of A Real-Looking Dog

First, let’s talk about that face! The pug face. When you say “pug face”, you instantly know what it’s supposed to look like, and there it is.

Huck is making little whiny noise because a cardboard picture of another dog disturbs him. It looks like we’re inside of a pet store. The sign says, “NOW AVAILABLE FAST, FREE SHIPPING.” Can Huck read? Maybe he wants his owner to BUY THAT DOG. Or maybe Huck wants a box, just like that dog on the sign has. Or, maybe Huck thinks the dog needs help getting out of the box? And, finally, is it just possible that Huck is smitten by that dark furred beauty on the sign? We have no idea. For that matter, we don’t even know why a dog owner would be video recording inside of a pet store.

What we can be sure of is that Huck sure is cute. He’s got so much emotional appeal. Huck, like the diamond, is proof that tiny isn’t insignificant. Unlike the diamond, however, almost anybody can own a pug. You could buy one, of course, for anywhere from $500 to several thousand dollars, or you could adopt a pug. That doesn’t mean you don’t have to put any money toward the maintenance of your faithful (but funny looking) new friend.

Nothing worth anything is free in this world (except for sunshine and air). According to an ASPCA report, you can expect to pay from $1,000 to $1,270 for your pet in the first year. Remember that animals are not furniture. They don’t sit around collecting dust, and you can’t preserve your pet by keeping it in a closet with protective wrapping. In fact, if you’re going to accept the responsibility of being a pet owner, you’re going to have to accept that there are no guarantees when it comes to living things.

Pug puppies, especially, are voracious little boogers. They will eat up to three times a day. You can also expect to take your pug to the vet about four times a year. Did you consider that when you bought a pug? We hope so. Visit costs, vaccination costs, antibiotics and the occasional illness might run you between $400 and $500 a year. It isn’t just fun to own such a cute little face, it’s a privilege that carries serious responsibility.

That little guy will give you years of pleasure, mischief, and, yes, even trouble. It’ll all be worth it. The pug has so many endearing qualities, even beside the wrinkly little face and large dark marbles for eyes. They combine jealousy with loyalty to a “T”. They are like perpetual little children who always need your company. They sleep a lot! Up to 14 hours a day. Huck isn’t making anything but cute little whining sounds, but pugs will bark if left alone for too long.

Be sure to properly socialize your little pug so he doesn’t become too aggressive. Lastly (but by no means finally), pugs are great with kids!
