Today there is an increase in the variety in which we see beatboxing throughout musical culture. People have gone as far as adding beatboxing in with different instruments to create a completely different sound unlike any other. Some artists go as far as adding in beatboxing while playing the flute to very iconic songs. Beatbox has become modernized and has even been seen in popular movies. Take for instance this video.
This is what this talented man says:
"You guys helped me with my first viral video, beatboxing with a McDonald's cup! Well, here's round 2! I went back to the same place, McDonald's in Rexburg, for the 3-year anniversary and did it again!". During a meal at McDonald’s, a regular visitor of this chain of fast food restaurants used his beatboxing talent and shows everybody what a real beatboxing rhythm looks like. What is more, he only used a plastic cup and a straw and gave his performance.
He can be seen going all red in the face because beatboxing demands great effort and energy. His performance is long enough so that he mesmerizes the customers in the restaurant. They have their eyes fixated on him without batting an eyelid. We have them, too. He produces various sounds by making different shapes with his lips when he opens and closes his mouth. He also achieves the variety of sounds by moving the straw upside down, however the rhythm dictates and we can’t be more amazed.
His 40-second performance is exquisite and when he finishes beatboxing, he get a round of loud applause. He deserves more than that, he deserves a stage and a hall full of people in front of whom he will have a longer performance with different cups and trinkets. If he goes on practicing like this, we believe he is going to become one great beatboxing artist making a name for himself. Well done!
Beatboxing (also beat boxing or b-boxing) is a form of vocal percussion primarily involving the art of mimicking drum machines using one's mouth, lips, tongue, and voice. It may also involve vocal imitation of turntablism, and other musical instruments. Beatboxing today is connected with hip-hop culture, often referred to as "the fifth element" of hip-hop, although it is not limited to hip-hop music. The term "beatboxing" is sometimes used to refer to vocal percussion in general.
The Internet has played a large part in the popularity of modern beatboxing. Sometimes, modern beatboxers will use their hand or another part of their body to extend the spectrum of sound effects and rhythm. Some have developed a technique that involves blowing and sucking air around their fingers to produce a very realistic record scratching noise, which is commonly known as the 'crabscratch'. Another hand technique includes the 'throat tap' which involves the beatboxer tapping their fingers against their throat as they throat sing or hum.
