Hi! My name is Harry the Owl and today I want to tell you the story of a cute little hedgehog named Prickles.

One beautiful summer morning, as usual, I was sitting on one of the branches of the evergreen tree when Prickles and his mom came out of their little nest. From the very beginning, I knew that this little hedgehog was not ordinary at all.

In my hundreds of years, I have seen many things, but I have never seen a little child as unpopular as Prickles! Want to know why I say this? Well, Prickles went out of his nest every day to find food. But that particular day, he saw a cute squirrel named Alvin and said to him:

"Do you want to play with me?"

The squirrel said: "Yes! Of course!"

They played tag together! They ran from one bush to another and were having fun! Until suddenly...

Ouch! The little squirrel ran out from behind the bushes and was rubbing his hands!

"I won't play with you anymore! You are too prickly!"

Prickles was very upset and apologized to Alvin! But in his heart, he said:

"I didn't want to hurt Alvin! But he's right! I'm too prickly!"

That same afternoon, Prickles came out of his nest again and, as always, started wandering in the forest until he reached a group of cute rabbits! They were having a race!

Prickles said to them:

"Can I play with you too?"

They said: "No! You run too slow!"

Prickles was very upset! But they were right! Prickles was very slow and also, he didn't know anything about racing! So, he stood there and watched the rabbits go away!

In his wanderings, he found a worm and said to himself:

"What a delicious worm!"

When the sun went down from the sky and gave its place to the shining moon, Prickles saw a bear cub in the forest under the moonlight, splashing in the pond! Prickles said to him:

"Can I play with you?"

"Of course, you can! All you have to do is dive into the water!"

Prickles jumped into the pond! But the water didn't splash out at all! He tried several times, but nothing happened! Jesse the Bear told him:

"Try like me!"

Then he went back and ran and threw himself into the pond! A lot of water splashed out of the pond!

Prickles listened to Jesse and went back and jumped into the pond with speed! But guess what happened! No water came out of the pond and there was no splashing sound!

Jesse the Bear said:

"You don't know how to play in the water! I'm bored!"

Then he went his way! Prickles was very upset but said to himself:

"He's right! I can't play in the water!"

From that day on, I didn't see Prickles in the forest! Days passed and passed! Until finally one day, Prickles came out of his nest and saw a raccoon scratching the trunk of a tree! He said to the raccoon:

"What are you doing?"

"I'm hunting insects to eat!"

Prickles said: "Really? I didn't know that insects live in the trunk of a tree!"

But the raccoon told him: "You go away! Anyway, you are too small and you can't do this!"

Prickles was upset but said to himself: "He's right! I'm too small!"

When Prickles left the raccoon, he reached a green plain where beautiful fawns were playing on the grass! Prickles wanted to join them! But suddenly one of the fawns fell on another one and the other one fell on Prickles and shouted:

"Ouch! We don't want to play with you! You hurt our bodies!"

Prickles was a little upset! But they were right! His body was full of thorns! Prickles was going home when he heard Alvin, Jesse and a rabbit saying:

"Help! Help!"

They were running towards Prickles and a fox was running after them! Prickles was also very scared! He curled himself up like a ball and the fox got closer and closer and suddenly shouted: "Ouch!"

The fox had stepped on Prickles and the thorns had gone into his foot!

The fox cried and limped away from the way he had come! The squirrel, the bear and the rabbit ran towards Prickles and said:

"You really showed him who's the boss, Prickles!"

Prickles said: "So where is the fox?"

They told him: "You were too prickly for him!"

Let me tell you that after that, Alvin the squirrel learned how to play with Prickles without getting thorns in his hand! Jesse the Bear no longer cared that Prickles couldn't jump well in the water! And the rabbits weren't upset that Prickles walked slowly! They had become friends!

And that was the story of Prickles! I told you that from the very first day I saw him, I knew he was not ordinary! Well, he was supposed to save his friends because he was too prickly!
