Intro:
Define – despise, chasten/ing, rebuke, correction, maturity
Rebuke can be a difficult for many of us. It often feels uncomfortable or even painful. We tend to react defensively, shut down, or reject the correction altogether. However, Scripture teaches us to view rebuke and correction as vital tools for personal and spiritual growth.

How to Take Rebuke/correction Positively and Grow thereby?
1) Realize the Fact that it is a Biblically correct method – Proverbs 3:11-12; Hebrews 12:5-6
a) It is a loving act, not rejecting (Balance is as always needed)
2) Reflect on the Reason for the Correct versus the Wrong Response to Rebuke/Correction - Psalms 139:23 - 24
a) Avoid Pride - Proverbs 16:18
b) Be Humble - 1Peter 5:5, Proverbs 15:33, Proverbs 18:12, Proverbs 22:4
3) Know and Acknowledge Its Positive Use and Result
a) It makes one wise - Proverbs 9:8
b) It makes use the wisdom around and available to us - James 5:19-20, Proverbs 24:6
c) Don’t take it as an Insult – love it - Proverbs 12:1

Message/conclusion:

Let us not to view rebuke negatively but as an effective method in bringing about maturity in the faith
