AK-47 Bayonet - The Godfather of Modern Military Knives 🗡️🔫

Often overlooked as an mere accessory, the AK47/AKM/AK74 Bayonet was a rugged and useful piece of kit that rarely gets its due for how innovative it was, or how many crucial roles it fulfilled for the soldier. It functioned not only as a pointy thing that could be attached to the end of the weapon, but also a dagger with a scabbard, a saw, an insulated wire cutter, and a makeshift hammer. It saw multiple iterations as it was improved over the years and adopted by a vast number of countries that used AK variants.

The Soviet Union was infamous for stealing Western technology- but at the start of the Cold War, they made their own series of bayonets for the AK-47 line of rifles. These bayonets- called the 6H2, 6H3, etcetera- were so innovative that the features were copied by dozens of designs. The AK-47 bayonet ended up inspiring the British L3A1, American Phrobis III M9 bayonet, and nearly every modern military issue field knife.
