There are Two Winter Approaches to Clark Creek & Newton Creek:

1) Park at HRM Parking Lot @ Nordic Center, Hike connector section over to Main Trail to Clark Creek Bridge & ultimately Newton Creek

or

2) Park at Twilight Parking Lot, cut over a couple tenths of a Mile through the Forest Road aka Nordic Trail (avoiding the meticulously groomed grooves), hang a Right onto Elk Meadows Trail to Clark Creek Bridge & ultimately Newton Creek *(THIS VIDEO!)*

Also in the Area Nearby......*There is a Secret Winter Snowshoe Hiking Hack that is one of the BEST Payoff Effort-to-Reward Ratio Winter Snowshoe Hikes IN ALL OF Mount Hood National Forest!* The most common way to do Umbrella Falls Winter Hike is a Full Loop approaching from the East of approximately 3.3 Miles and 700+ FT Elevation Gain.....HOWEVER there is a MUCH EASIER CHERRY PICKING APPROACH that can be done that limits this *to just a couple tenths of a Mile of Hiking with less than 100 FT Elevation Gain!* Start from the Mount Hood Meadows Main Parking Lot, Center East Side at the Dog Park Trailhead, Snowshoe to the RIGHT of the Beige building, and you will see some Green Snowshoe Signs to your RIGHT....parallel those around the corner and you almost instantly arrive at the Bridge and Base Area of Umbrella Falls, surrounded by deep thick white winter snow! The flowing water is National Wild & Scenic East Fork Hood River. *This is a Path Not Taken Hidden Gem Winter Snowshoe Hike!!!!!!!!!!*
